I am Lou Stokes, a Nutritional Therapist, and my aim is to naturally but realistically help your body to heal itself, to understand you as an individual, tailoring recommendations so that they work for you. I can offer you solutions and support you through your journey of healing towards optimal health. I use a functional medicine approach which looks at how nutrition, lifestyle, environment and underlying imbalances all play a role in your health. In other words, I look at the bigger picture rather than solely treating the symptoms.

My Philosophy . . .

I believe we can go a long way towards healing using the power of nature
fresh air - sunshine, clean water, a healthy diet and a positive mind.

I investigate what the cause of the condition or symptom is.

I investigate what the cause of the condition or symptom is.

I treat the person as a whole, recognising each person requires a personalised approach. When an imbalance in the body occurs, there are usually several bodily systems involved and so we need to look at the bigger picture to restore balance and health.

Prevention is preferable to a cure. I focus on finding the most beneficial diet, lifestyle and environment for you to prevent disease.

I can show you how to attain optimal health, maintain it and avoid the creation of an environment where disease may progress.

My aim is to gently empower you to take responsibility for your own health.

Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.

Naturopathic Nutrition

How does naturopathic nutrition work and how I can help you?

I investigate by talking with you and considering all the systems in the body, and by using functional tests where relevant. I examine the root cause of your symptoms and consider your health concerns and goals before setting you on your healing journey.

I support your body’s ability to heal itself by giving it the nourishment, hydration, and calm it requires and by reducing any toxic burden from foods, drugs, and the environment. Optimal health is all about the food we eat, the sleep we get and the lifestyle we lead.

I will create an individualised, realistic and practical plan for you that addresses the root cause of your health issues, not simply treating the symptoms. We are all so unique, from our genetics and microbiome to our tastes and preferences. Knowing which foods are optimal for you personally is key, and how you can incorporate them into your lifestyle. The plan may include targeted supplements and functional testing where necessary. These sessions are 100% tailored to your needs, and we will discuss the best way forward to keep you on track to reach your health goals.

Would you like a Health MOT?

You don’t have to have symptoms or a health condition to come and see me.  Do you feel confused with all the nutritional advice bombarding you from different sources? Are you rattling with the number of different pills, powders and potions you feel you should take?

This is where I can help bring some clarity! I felt like this too when I started this journey.

I can assess your nutritional needs according to your stage in life and current lifestyle. Together we can streamline your supplement needs and sort the 'spelt from the chaff ' where your diet is concerned.

A Little Bit About Me . . .

I am a registered Nutritional Therapist and have always had a keen interest in using alternative therapies and digging into the drivers behind health concerns.  I want to know why a condition has manifested before deciding what should be done to help the body rebalance itself.

I trained at the College of Naturopathic Medicine www.naturopathy-uk.com  in London for 3 years, gaining a diploma in Naturopathic Nutrition and previously trained at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition www.ion.ac.uk in London for 3 years gaining a diploma in Nutritional Therapy. I am currently diving deeper into the gut microbiome and studying towards a Microbiome Clinical Science Certificate with The Biome Learning Centre.

I have learnt through personal experience with family members and appreciate that nutritional therapy works alongside conventional medicine, adding an extra layer of understanding to how the body functions and what it needs to restore balance.
